Privacy Policy
Your data belongs to you. This explains exactly what we collect, why we need it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Last updated: 17 August 2026
The short version
We collect only what we need to give you the e-book, your membership and our emails. We never sell your data, and we never share what you post in the community outside it. You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time — email hello@hersecurity.co.uk and we'll action it within one month.
1. Who we are
Her Security is a safety-education platform and community for women, operated by Hans Global Ltd, trading as Her Security, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14729395), registered office Suite 1a, 2nd Floor, Hunter House, 150 Hutton Road, Shenfield, Essex, CM15 8NL.
For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our registration with the Information Commissioner's Office is [ICO registration number].
You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@hersecurity.co.uk, or by post at the registered office address above.
2. The information we collect
We collect the following, and nothing beyond it:
- Details you give us directly. Your name and email address when you buy the e-book, join a membership, sign up to our weekly email or email us. If you write to us, we keep the message so we can answer it.
- Membership and account information. Which level you are on, when you joined, your renewal date, and your activity inside the member portal — for example which courses you have started.
- Payment information. Handled entirely by our payment provider. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last four digits of the card for reference. We never see or store your full card details.
- Anything you choose to post in the community, the members' WhatsApp group, or in a message to our support line or a Close Protection specialist.
- Basic technical data. Your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected when you use the website so we can keep it working and secure.
We do not ask you to tell us about incidents, health, or anything else sensitive in order to use Her Security. If you choose to share something like that — in the community, in a risk assessment or on a support call — we treat it as confidential and only use it to help you with the thing you asked for.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To provide what you have paid for — delivering the e-book, running your membership, giving you access to the community, courses and library. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To take payment and prevent fraud. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interests in protecting the business.
- To send our weekly safety email and occasional updates about the service. Lawful basis: consent, or our legitimate interest in emailing existing members about similar services. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- To answer your messages and provide support. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- To keep the community safe — moderation, and acting on behaviour that breaks our rules. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in protecting our members.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we never will. We share it only with the suppliers who help us run the service, and only as far as they need it:
- Our member portal and community platform provider, who host your account and the community.
- Our payment provider, who processes your payment.
- Our email provider, who sends the weekly email on our behalf.
- Our website hosting and analytics providers.
- Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where genuinely needed.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or where we believe someone is at risk of serious harm. If we ever have to do that, we will tell you unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
5. Where your data is held
Some of our suppliers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by an approved safeguard — normally UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or Addendum) issued by the ICO. You can ask us for details of the safeguard that applies.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and membership data — for as long as you are a member, and for two years afterwards in case you come back.
- Email subscription data — until you unsubscribe, and then a minimal record so we do not email you again by mistake.
- Payment and accounting records — six years, as UK tax law requires.
- Messages to us — two years from the last contact.
- Community posts — until you delete them or ask us to close your account.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to direct marketing at any time;
- receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email hello@hersecurity.co.uk. We will respond within one month, and it is free.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
8. Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies it needs to function, plus — if you agree — analytics cookies that tell us which pages people find useful. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; the site will still work.
The member portal is run by our community platform provider and sets its own cookies to keep you logged in.
9. Keeping your data safe
We use encrypted connections, restrict access to member data to the people who need it, and choose suppliers who meet recognised security standards. Any artwork, documents or notes you upload are stored with unguessable filenames so they cannot be found by anyone browsing.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affected your rights and freedoms, we would report it to the ICO within 72 hours and tell you directly where required.
10. Children
Her Security is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for anything significant we will email members before it takes effect.
